Remember....Charles Manason had a "family" too.....not to rain on your parade....just don't get all mushy and drop your guard.
They are what they are...and that is what they are. Never forget that part either.
I'm certainly NOT letting my guard down . . . the comment was surprising more than anything else. I think she meant it in a dysfunctional way also, as I was lecturing them on their poor behavior. So no. I haven't lost my mind.
